On May 15th 2018, a tornado ripped through Sleeping Giant State Park in Connecticut. A devastating and violent storm that caused nearly a million dollars worth of damage to the park was over in minutes; a path of thousands of downed trees left in its path. Cleanup took over a year. The park has been forever changed; most of the downed trees removed, a few remain though while others, not quite fallen but no longer fully upright cling to the earth, refusing to let go.
When we walked the trail to the summit, the sky was clear. The park had just reopened a week before. The air was dry and hot. Insects buzzed in the background, a cool breeze made its way through the trees. The day was peaceful: the fallen trees the only lingering reminder of natural disaster.
Feel the sun on your face as you round the bend...
Sleeping Giant State Park
- 4" x 12" x 1.5"
- Ready to hang.
- Paintings are done on 1.5” thick gallery wrapped canvas. The first layer of paint I use in each piece is carried over to the back. The juxtaposition from first layer on the sides of the canvas, to the final layer on the front, create additional viewing areas and added interest to each piece. With the sides painted, frames are also unnecessary; you will spend no more money or time shopping for a frame to match your decor. Simply hang your artwork and enjoy!
- Materials: Acrylic paint; Gallery wrapped canvas; Resin; Metal D Hook; Paper backing
- Care: Painting has been coated with a high quality resin material. Keep out of direct sunlight and away from high moisture. Keep indoors. To clean, gently wipe resin surface with clean cloth. For stubborn dirt or dust, a damp rag with mild soap can be used to clean. Paper backing should only be wiped with a dry cloth.
- Pictures of image are taken prior to resin application. Final image / video is with resin applied. All resin is handpoured - some slight variations may occur.
